Blogmas 20: My Christmas Decorations!

I think when it comes to tree decorations, you are either the type of person who changes up their decorations every few years, or the type who uses the same ornaments every year. I am the latter. I have had the same set of decorations for years, each one tells its own story. Today’s post is going to be taking you through some of my ornaments and the stories behind them.

This one here is probably one of my most recent decorations. I was given it as a gift by a colleague in 2013 when I was training to be a teacher. Although I never went on to complete my training and instead I went on to pursue my career as a writer, I like this tree because it reminds me of my time working with the children.

This little guy is also from around 2013. He was hanging from the ribbon wrapped around Christmas present my sister had given me. She always gives the most beautiful presents, wrapped in beautiful paper, with intricate bows and ribbons. I’ve always been really close to my sister, so this little bird is my little representation of her on my tree.

IMG_0216.jpgI have always loved baubles, but I’ve never had a tree big enough to warrant having them. So I only have the one. This was the first decoration I bought for myself back in 2011. One day, I’ll be able to get myself a big tree and have a lot of baubles! But until then I have this one, it kind of reminds me of a peacock.

This one my mum bought me the Christmas after my 18th Birthday. My birthday was in the July of this year and she had taken me to see the Phantom of the Opera. It’s my favourite musical and the performance was amazing! It’s lovely to have a reminder, which I can pull out every year.

IMG_0212.jpgThis weird looking thing is actually an angel and has been my tree topper since I was 5 years old. Every year I think I should probably get a new one, maybe one less creepy, but I can’t bring myself to do it! This chubby little angel has been a part of my life for nearly 20 years, so every year it goes up, in pride of place. Maybe one day I will replace it, either that or hand it down to my own children so they can enjoy this weird little creature.

Those are a few of my Christmas decorations. What decorations do you have on your tree? Let me know in the comments or on social media, follow the link below!
