How to Stay Organised!

If you’re anything like me then you are probably either back at school or are just heading back in the coming weeks. I myself am heading back to Uni for my final year, so naturally I am all organised and ready to start the semester. But it’s not the beginning of the year that is the problem is it. It’s staying organised and motivated for the rest of the year!

Here are some of my tips for keeping motivated and on top of your work all year.

Have a planner – The biggest lie we tell ourselves is that we will remember something we need to know for a later date. Writing things down in a planner will make sure you don’t forget deadlines or other important information.

Write up your notes –  Once you are home after a class rewrite the notes from that class. Not only will it make your notes neater and give you a chance to reorganise them, it also solidifies in your mind the ideas that were discussed in that class, which can help you better understand the topic you are studying.

Calendar stickers – If you are a visual person then creating small stickers to put on a calendar will make it easy to quickly see what work you need to do. I make mine on, printing them off and applying double sided sticky tape to the back.

Keep your work space tidy – Keeping your work space tidy will help keep you motivated. When your space is cluttered it can become disheartening to work in that environment and will make you less productive. Make you work space look attractive to you so that you enjoy working there!

Don’t leave homework will the day before – Sounds obvious but it is an easy road to go down. Set aside a few hours a day to do homework, that way you can complete the work at a relaxed pace over a few days rather than rushing to complete a whole piece in one night.

Do things the night before – Get everything ready for the next day the night before. Set out your clothes, pack your bag, make your lunch and even prepare your breakfast. I’ve recently take to preparing smoothie bags; cutting up fruit and freezing them in bags, I then take them out of the freezer and put them in the blender, breakfast in minutes. By doing the hard stuff the night before you can roll out of bed in the morning and get ready for the day stress free.

These tips have helped me keep organised and motivated throughout my education but they can be used once you leave school as well. Staying organised can help keep your day stress free and ultimately make you happier!

Good luck in the new school year and remember to take care of yourself!
